15th Annual Gateway Hospital Medicine Conference

May 1-3, 2025 | Eric P. Newman Education Center, St. Louis, MO

The 15th Annual Gateway Hospital Medicine Conference is back at the Eric P. Newman Education Center in St. Louis, MO. Hosted by Washington University School of Medicine, this 20-hour CME conference offers evidence-based presentations by national experts, catering to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists. Tailored tracks focusing on adult or pediatric hospital medicine and NPs/PAs ensure relevance to your practice.

 

Hospital Medicine Updates: Evidence to Practice 2025

June 18-20, 2025 | Royal Hawaiian, Honolulu, HI

Evidence to Practice covers the clinical issues most relevant to hospitalists and other clinicians who care for inpatients. Taught by UCSF’s top teachers and selected guest faculty, this course highlights recent advances and current controversies. To promote active learning, Evidence to Practice will use a mobile audience response system. In addition, there will be dedicated review and consolidation sessions where key learning points will be reviewed.


This course includes broad content in infectious diseases (including updates in COVID), critical care, perioperative care, consult medicine, nephrology, and much more!

 

Mayo Clinic International Hospital Internal Medicine Conference 2025 Year

September 9 - 12, 2025 | Rome, Italy

The Mayo Clinic International Hospital Internal Medicine Conference focuses on advancements in hospital medicine. Renowned Mayo Clinic experts will deliver presentations on cutting-edge research, emerging trends, and clinical updates related to hospital medicine that can be readily integrated into daily practice. The conference aims to familiarize clinicians with the clinical reach and expertise of hospitalists in managing complex patients within the hospital setting. Additional lectures aim to provide an overview of hospital and internal medicine with a particular focus on the field’s success in improving quality of care and patient outcomes and optimizing hospital operations. These lectures help to promote the field of hospital medicine internationally and provide a framework for establishing successful hospital medicine programs outside of the United States. A Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) workshop is available as a supplement to the main lectures for those interested in enhancing their skills for incorporating bedside ultrasound into their everyday practice.

SHM Rocky Mountain Chapter POCUS Regional Course

September 18 - 19, 2025 | University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO

The SHM Rocky Mountain Chapter POCUS Regional Course is a two-day course designed to allow participants to gain knowledge and skill in POCUS image acquisition, interpretation, and integration into clinical decision-making. Live demonstrations, interactive case reviews, and didactics will complement hours of hands-on practice sessions.

The workshop is designed to maximize the participant’s time practicing ultrasound skills on live models. The participant groups will have a 3:1 ratio of participants to experienced instructors who utilize POCUS in their hospital-based practices. The training curriculum will focus on the highest yield POCUS exams for generalist providers caring for hospitalized patients. Interactive didactic sessions will underscore how POCUS can be applied to many common clinical scenarios that arise on the general medicine wards. Participants will learn to obtain images of the heart, lungs, abdominal organs, and vascular structures and practice interpretation of normal and abnormal images with discussion of how to appropriately integrate POCUS findings into clinical decision-making. Participants will also learn best practices of ultrasound-guided techniques for bedside procedures such as thoracentesis, central venous access, lumbar puncture, and paracentesis. Please see the course syllabus for further details.

UCSF Hospital Medicine: Management of the Hospitalized Patient 2025

October 30-November 1, 2025 | Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA

Management of the Hospitalized Patient (MHP) is back in San Francisco, October 30-November 1, 2025, for its 29th year! This course covers clinical issues relevant to hospitalists and clinicians caring for inpatients. Taught by UCSF’s top instructors and selected guest faculty, MHP highlights recent advances and current controversies in the field. The course will use a mobile audience response system and feature multiple workshops with small group discussions. Offered in person and virtually, MHP includes content about critical care, perioperative care, patient safety, hospital neurology, cardiology, GI, diabetes, hematology, oncology, nephrology, and infectious diseases.


This course is presented by the UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine and is sponsored by the Office of Continuing Medical Education, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. It also serves as the West Coast regional meeting of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

 

The Difficult Airway Course: Critical Care

November 14-16, 2025 | San Diego, CA

Advanced, 2.5 day course for providers responsible for emergency airway management of acute inpatients. Our world-class, multi-specialty faculty of airway experts, focuses exclusively on the airway challenges posed by critically ill inpatients. Emphasizing airway assessment and decision-making, the course equips participants to manage any airway situation they encounter - and to do so with great confidence. Reinforce learning in Code Airway simulations - hands-on management of challenging scenarios.

Build mastery and confidence in:

  • How to predict a difficult airway
  • How to prevent a failed airway
  • When - and when NOT - to use medications
  • How to perform an awake intubation
  • Practical strategies in crisis management and human factors

Gain extensive Hands-on Practice in:

  • Airway techniques, including video laryngoscopy
  • Flexible bronchoscopy and laryngeal mask ventilation
  • Tube exchange and extubation of the difficult airway
  • Front of the neck access / cricothyrotomy

Prepare yourself for challenging inpatient scenarios, such as:

  • Upper airway obstruction
  • Airway management in the massively obese patient
  • Tracheostomy issues, including accidental dislodgement
  • The bleeding, traumatized and vomit-filled airway
  • The can't intubate / can't oxygenate situation
